The Sixth Epoch — counting down to Bitcoin block 1,050,000

Every 210,000 blocks, Bitcoin halves the reward miners receive for adding a new block. This is the halving — Bitcoin's hardest scheduled event.

Each halving opens a new epoch. Block 0 (January 2009) opened the first epoch. Block 840,000 (April 2024) opened the fifth.

Block 1,050,000 will open the sixth — Bitcoin's sixth epoch. Estimated Spring 2028, but the network sets the date, not us.
